SPAM Biking

Charity donation made to Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Tonight,  a snowy Wednesday night in January, a handful of SPAM members made it to the Police HQ in Devizes, the home of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance to present a cheque from the club.

As many will already know the profits from our events held on Salisbury Plain are donated every year to charities nominated by our members, and with the Wiltshire Air Ambulance being close to the hearts of so many people locally (especially those that take part in sports in remote areas), it is no surprise that this charity was nominated again this year.

We have recently donated almost £4000 to various charities, with more to come from the recent Winter Challenge event, £1000 of which was donated to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal tonight.

Kevin Reed, the representative from the Police, who met members of the club and gave us a tour of the helicopter regularly flies as part of the Air Ambulance crew and emphasised how important such donations are in keeping the service running.  We would like to thank him for his time tonight, the tour and information he gave us and his patience with my children that wanted to sit in every seat possible in the helicopter itself!

In turn we would like to thank all the riders that take part in our events for their continued support that make these donations to such important charities possible.

Our next charity event is The Blast in September 2010. Let's keep it up!
